“After testing the Treo 650 smart phone for several weeks, I tried long and hard to come up with a reason why it shouldn’t receive a rating of five stars.”
BusinessWeek’s Steve Rosenbush, says that although his experience wasn’t perfect, the Treo 650 remains the best mobile communications device on the market currently.

Today I am announcing a couple new features of treo Addicts -> Mobile Site of the Day and Freeware of the Day. As long as I can keep up, I will be posting a useful mobile site that can be accessed on the Treo and a useful Freeware app. Eventually I will be incorporating the Mobile Site of the Day into the mobile version of treo Addicts (mobile.treoaddicts.com) but until then you will just have to type it in yourself.
Since I am excited about todays release of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, I thought I would theme the MSotD and FWotD to the movie.
Mobile Site of the Day : h2g2 On the Move [www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/pda/] - h2g2 is an unconventional guide to life, the universe and everything, an encyclopaedic project where entries are written by people from all over the world. h2g2 was launched in April 1999, and the BBC took over the running of the site in February 2001 as part of our drive to develop new and innovative online services. h2g2 On the Move is the mobile version of this online guide.
If you can’t find what you are looking for on h2g2, I suggest looking on Wapedia [pda.en.wapedia.org] which is a mobile interface to Wikipedia. I point out Wikipedia because I predict that it will be eventually renamed to the Encyclopedia Galatica and will cost a little more then the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Most will prefer the HHGttG since it is cheaper and has “Don’t Panic” printed on the cover. This is soothing if your planet has just been blown up or , although unlikely to help at all, you just drank a Pan Galactic Gargle Blaster.
If you haven’t read any of the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy series of books, here is where the Freeware of the Day comes in. Although you can’t get the books for free, you can get the reader software for free. Head on over to eReader’s website [www.ereader.com], download the free eReader software, purchase the book and have fun reading. Or, if you are lazy or busy like me, head over to Audible [www.audible.com], download the free Palm compatible listening software, buy the audio book and have fun listening to it. It is one of the first Audible audio books I ever purchased and I have enjoyed it many times.

Allgamer concluded his 3 part extensive review on the Treo 650. Although the third part did point out problems he had with the Treo, he had this to say in conclusion:
“Overall the 650 is blazing fast running apps and doing just about anything, which is just what I expected from the CPU upgrade. The crisp 320×320 screen is simply radiant and sweet, no more granular dots and lines in the screen.”

Sammy from PalmAddicts posted his own thoughts on the Treo 650.
“…you really need to take a look at your specific needs, what are you going to use a Palm device for, how’s it going to be used every day, do you use it more for work or for more productivity?”
Although Sammy does like the Treo, it doesn’t suit him personally. He points out that when choosing a handheld devices the user needs to look at their personally needs. That is why he chooses to stick with hist Tungsten C.

Salling Clicker 2.2.1 - Yesterday, Salling Software released a small update to it’s widely popular remote computer-control software. I have used this software and it is truly remarkable. With Verizon, Orange and even Earthlink Wireless announcing plans to carry the Treo 650, many T-Mobile customers are asking, “Where is T-Mobile’s Treo 650?” Besides one unconfirmed report, T-Mobile has left people (like Adam and Frank who emailed me today) totally in the dark. Now I don’t have any news for people, and I don’t know if these online petitions work, but James Ramos started a petition to convince T-Mobile to carry the Treo 650 soon. If you’re interested, you may want to sign.
