How to change network name displayed in phone app (GSM)

An enterprising hacker and acquaintance figured out how to change (temporarily for now unfortunately) the displayed network name so that he could see at any time whether he was connecting with Cingular’s blue network or orange network (because the blue network works much better for him in his location):

I used to work for a company called “Supplytek” and when I sent mails you could se that it came from Deon@Supplytek. I now no longer work from them as I use Yahoo instead but I always have a popup asking me to enter a password and my mail still shows as comming from Supplytek? How doe I get rid of this?
      Please help.
      Thanks,
      Deon.
