I have a question on data connectivity. I have a Verizon 650 and travel out of Verizon’s home area often, upstate Michigan. The idea of the Treo is to have connectivity when you are away from your desk. Even though I have a good digital signal and 1x is indicated on the phone I can’t get on line. I get an error message saying the password is incorrect and I assume it’s the password to log on to the local carriers data network. Before the Treo I had a Kyocera triband 7135 and I could switch it to the Quick-to-net analog data service and at least connect. The Treo is locked to the National Access service. Is there anything I can do to have data capabilities when I’m out of the home coverage area? Any hope in the future?
Thanks,
Neal

Neal,
While the Verizon Wireless National Access setup is locked into your device, it is possible to add a nw network setup.
1. From the network prefs page, hit menu, then New.
2. Name the new connection qnc (just like the old one on Kyocera)
3. User name is qnc, password is qnc, phone is #777.
That’s it. Try this out next time you are in the boonies and see if it fares any better than the preset National Access. Good Luck!

Hello, I have a Treo 650 from Verizon now activated in Mexico with a CDMA mexican company. I can’t use the National Access service (got an error message sayin’ my username or pass ir wrong) but I just found that whatever the verizon number is it is still free here. I have a prepaid plan now, so I can’t make a call if I have no money in the phone, right? Well, when I try to dial to a local number to have data access (for example) I hear the msg saying that I have no credit so the call can’t be completed. But if I try to use the National Access the message reads that is dialing, then signing on and even negotiating the connection! at the end I got the error msg again. But the thing is that it connects to Verizon even without credit, so I would like to know what is that number or any info about the connection so I can setup a new one and try some tricks. Thanks in advance. Note, this one didn’t work #777
