People have been wondering what happened to treo Addicts… Is tA dead? For sale? … Nope. treo Addicts is still here and I’m back now. Where have I been all this time? Well its complicated but the main reason is that my family had a new addition arrive a few months ago. On October 18 at 2:26 am, my wife gave birth to our first child - Xander. Our little baby boy was born weighing 7 pounds 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. Becoming a father has been one of the coolest things that has ever happened to me. At the risk of sounding like a sappy cheezy daddy - he is so smart and adorable. Fortunately my day job allows me to work from home, so I get to be around him quite a bit.

[ Side note, watching TV right now and I just saw a Cingular commercial with the Treo 650. The guy takes a picture of his newborn baby with the Treo at the end of the commercial. Awesome ]

So baby, then holidays (oy!) and busy busy busy with the day job - I have had my hands full lately. Also before coming back I have done quite a few upgrades and have been adding some new features to the site. I’ll post some more details of these upgrades and some of the great new features soon.

Fortunately I have been able to play with my Treo during this time. Got to try out some great apps and got to use some really cool accessories.

So look forward to some reviews and I will also be doing some catching up on some older stories to fill the gap…

UPDATE 2: Email seems to be working fine now. You can send your email to the regular email address now. The only thing that needs to be fixed is the Mobile site - I have to reinstall the software for it. Hopefully that should be done today. I will be reinstalling the mobile site software sometime Thursday after I recieve an upcoming update to WiForums. If you notice any other problems, please toss me an email.

UPDATE : Most of the transistion has been made now, but email isn’t working. Please send your submissions to treoaddicts [at] mac [dot] com for now.

In order to keep up with increase of traffic and bandwidth needs, we are going to be switching servers. Hopefully there won’t be any down time during the transistion. The way I have it set up, there shouldn’t be any. I already have the database transferred to the new server, so the most trouble users should see is just a slower site until the rest of the site gets moved over. Once moved, the site should be a lot more zippy!

Although it’s not a huge deal, treo Addicts celebrates our 3 month birthday today. On April 6th we officially opened our doors and have been going at it heavily since. In that 3 month time we have added a few writers to the treo Addicts team, gone through a site redesign, and added some features to the site. New features include Planet treo - a page where you can take a quick glance on what is posted on the popular Treo sites, the treo Addicts Software Store - where you can try and purchase your favorite programs, and the treo Addicts Smartphone & Accessories Store - where you can buy great Treo accessories. And thats not it… we have more to come….

Well I’m on my way up to my parent’s cabin this weekend. Problem is that its up in the “sticks” in northern Wisconsin. Roaming with my Treo and no land lines to dialup with on my laptop. So I won’t be able to post anything myself to tA over te next few days,BUT HAVE NO FEAR! Nigel (hamsammich) and Marc will be holding down the fort for me while I’m gone. I was thrilled this week when I was told that treo Addicts had been chosen for the “ecto powered blog of the week”. ecto is an awesome blogging client that I use to post most of the entries onto treo Addicts. At last minute, the wife and I decided to visit my “parental crew” at their cabin in northern Wisconsin. Problem is that there is no internet access for me up there - no dial-up, no data via my Treo - probably not even digital roaming.
